This half-day training session will introduce users to the new capabilities made possible by NOAA’s next generation GOES-R Series Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI), Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM), Space Weather instruments and derived products for improved environmental intelligence, forecasts, and warnings. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on experience with GOES-16 data that showcases the many applications to improve forecasts and warnings of high impact weather and environmental phenomena. This session will include hands-on exercises focused on special topics such as tropical and convective weather, heavy precipitation and flooding applications.
